Course Overview
Engineering drawings (aka blueprints, manufacturing blueprints, prints, dimensional prints, drawings, mechanical drawings, and more) are a rich and specific outline that shows all the information and requirements needed to manufacture an item or product. It is more than simply a drawing; it is a graphical language that communicates
ideas and information.
The course is a balanced mixture of theory as well as practical production of some drawings of simple components using the BS8888 conventions, projections and formats. These techniques and formats are in use across a broad spectrum of industries.
For Whom:
This course is designed for participants with little or no previous knowledge of engineering drawings or those who wish to update or refresh their current skill set. Those who are required to read understand and interpret them as part of their job role but need to update their current skills for better performance will equally benefit from this program. It will also benefit those who wish to expand their knowledge prior to carrying out quality inspections and standards.
Learning objectives:
At the end of the program, participants will be able to:
· demonstrate a basic working knowledge and understanding of Engineering
Drawing conventions;
· produce some simple component drawing;
· explain the specific requirements of a
project and feed the information back; and
· produce simple engineering drawings.
Day 1: Introduction to BS8888
Drawing projections – first and third angle
Day 2: Part and assembly drawings – component drawings
Line types
Symbols
Abbreviations
Surface finishes
Day 3: Overview of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances
Draughting standards
Working from datum points
Training Methodology:
The course runs over 3 days and is designed to give delegates an ability to read and interpret engineering drawings using the BS8888 conventions. There is a mix of theory to cover the draughting conventions as well some practical application in the production
