Learning Objectives

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

• list the basic components of an Engine Control System of a Caterpillar electronic engine and describe their functions;
• describe the interaction among the basic components of the Caterpillar Electronic Engine Control System;
• explain the function and operation of the Electronic Modular Control Panel (EMCP);
• identify the various buttons of the EMCP and list their functions;
• prepare Equipment for Preventive Maintenance under normal procedures and steps;
• explain the basic structure of a diesel engine and its operating principles;
• list the Fuel System components and describe their functions;
• describe the operating principles of the Fuel System;
• list the Air Intake and Exhaust System components and describe their functions;
• describe the operating principles of the Air Intake and Exhaust System;
• list the Lubrication System components and describe their functions;
• describe the operating principles of the Lubrication System;
