Confined Space Training Workshop

Program overview:

Confined space entry is a dangerous activity in the workplace that requires a very thorough understanding and supervision to avoid serious incidents.

Confined spaces are likely to cause death or serious harm to employees, so the knowledge and skills gained from this training program would go a long way to minimize the hazards faced in working in confined spaces.

This program will expose the hazards involved in confined spaces such as entrapment, engulfment and dangerous atmospheric conditions and effective control measures for workers.

Participants will learn the different types of confined spaces, the hazards associated with confined space entry, and control measures to safely enter and exit such work environment

This course is designed for employees in Construction, Manufacturing, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, Utility, Facility Management and Hospitality industries.

Learning objectives

At the end of the program, participants will be able to;

• define Confined Space;
• list the elements of OSHA’s Permit Required Confined Spaces;
• list and discuss the responsibilities of the Entrants, Attendants and Entry Supervisors;
• acquire basic skills in hazard recognition, control and management;
• discuss confined space assessment techniques;
• discuss rescue and retrieval requirements;
• identify the hazards associated with confined space entry;
• employ control measures to safely enter and exit a confined space;
  • Use of harness belt;
  • Obtaining a permit to work;
  • Dedicated attendant;
  • Taking regular breaks and gas testing the atmosphere at regular intervals;
• use & maintain different types of personal protective equipment (PPE); and
• apply the general principles of health safety and environment

Training Methodology

Lectures, discussions, exercises, case studies, audio-visual aids will be used to reinforce these teachings/learning methods.
